"MAN CAVE"

I loved visiting my brother-in-law's "Man Cave"  He was obviously very orderly and loved for things to be in their place!  It was a "wow" experience for me!

AT LEAST I WON'T MELT

OK, I really liked your snowperson, so I had to find something to post with eyes and a mouth.....  This is definitely quite odd and not your everyday sighting.  This store always has things that make me break out the camera.  My daughter in law and I were just talking about Haiku, so I thought I would add one.

Head in a Bubble
With eerie light reflections
Smile or scratch my head?

We've got sun!

It may be 16 degrees, but I am soooo
happy that the sun is out.
Life is good!

and coming...

Yesterday's snow storm was absolutely beautiful. It was encouraging to have the sun peek out because we were getting down right desperate not seeing it for so long!

Oh no, winter keeps coming.....

This is how I felt when I found out the groundhog saw his shadow....but actually it's "The Crying Giant" by Tom Otterness at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City.  They also have one of Louise Bourgeois' spiders at the entry.  Check out the video on the one at the Tate, in London...

LINK TO the "LOUISE BOURGEOIS' SPIDER" in London

I am trying to find out how many spiders there are.  I've seen the ones in Bilboa, Denver and Kansas City.  I missed the ones in Paris and London, I'll add those to my "to do list"  ...Where are the others??
Glad you found a bit of color. It's still cold, snowy, and yes grey here, so I'm sticking with my theme!

KC STOREFRONT

I found a little color trying to peek into this "gray" picture!  I was smiling as I left the colder weather of the midwest to fly home.  I also tried a new format for our blog.  Let me know what you think.
This statue seems to capture the cold serenity that surrounds us again today!

More snow and a very grey day. I think it's "cool" to have everything in shades of white and grey... as long as there is a splash of color lurking around the corner!

Fun Feb Faux Fountain

GeoTagged, [N38.87499, E94.84423]

Water bottle water at a KU campus fountain! I love your "vitamin C for the soul" orange photo, it definitely made me smile!
Orange, for some reason, is my favorite color in February....I just crave it.

Last night at the Plaza....Still snowing.  I'll try and send a post from my phone, we'll see if that works.  If not, I'll be home on Friday and be back to a normal schedule.  Happy Winter!

The Plaza on Valentine's Day

The snow was short lived but beautiful.
It reminded me of a pointillism project
we had to do in art class.

Old Stone House

Old family stone home on Cedar Creek.  Three level living with a view.

HeartWriter

Sorry to be gone so long.  We're at the Plaza in K.C. for Valentine's Day, One of my favorite places, I love having the snow and being able to leave in a few days.  There seem to be delightful 'Valentine's Day' displays all over the city, but I found this one before I left home.

Spotted this as I was gathering up the wrappings from E's birthday.

Ah another crisp morning! I love the Flatirons when they're dusted with snow. Vertical surfaces covered in snow, pretty amazing.

Sparkling Thoughts

It's 9 degrees here and you're photo inspired me to think about the meaning of.....why didn't I park in the garage last night...no, no I mean....the fleeting beauty of ice crystals.

Deep Thought

I love the pattern you discovered while unloading your dishes....Who would have thought?

These guys are working really hard to encipher the esoteric meaning of it all.
A fun little pattern play caught my eye as I was unloading the dishwasher. Ah the joys of domestic life!

The Lost Glove Tree

This is the first Lost Glove Tree that I've ever seen.  What a great idea! I looked for a leather one that I lost a few years back, but it wasn't up there.....still it made me smile
You may thinking of warm beaches there, but here we're having cozy thoughts of reading by the fire as the snow falls. Here's our morning hike with the storm coming in!

To beach or not to beach..

What do pineapples make you think of?  Warm tropical places? Yummy beach drinks with little umbrellas? Beach castles? New swimsuits......Yikes that brought me back to reality.  Now to find a good book and get me back in beach mode...

All in favor of the artwork that Diane found, vote aye!
Here's a temporary installation at the Denver Art Museum, by Tobias Rehberger, that's fabulous. Multi color bungee cords stretched on 4" centers in a trapezoid shaped space about 20' x 10'. Lit from above, the colors just glow. It is an absolute riot to walk through!

Dramatic clouds at dusk on my end.

What a treat, a color play greeting the day!

The first discovery is always special; it marks the beginning.

This unexpected sighting made me catch my breath and smile. I had to share.

Beginning the shared Discoveries with a nod to The Rose Parade

Last year I kept encountering those snapshots of things, both large and small, that made me smile. Usually I was alone or even worse, failed to acknowledge the importance of these findings in the scheme of my life.

When my friend, visited from out of town last November, we formulated this blog idea as a way to share our relevant encounters, with each other. The hardest challenge so far has been to find the one photo that sums up the moment, or as my old design professor always said "KISS" (keep it simple stupid).

This is my "aha" moment while watching the Rose Parade floats line up on New Year's Eve. A beautiful evening, wonderful friends, dramatic floats, 2010 is starting out with a BIG SMILE :)
